Getting to Know Your Students

Teachers must learn personalities, temperaments, needs, and interests to help them know and connect with children. Learning what children like and dislike helps to understand their focus, study their determination, and meet their needs to help them build relationships and play well with peers. Paying attention to details and listening to student conversations will help teachers navigate lesson plans and activities. Children appreciate attention and nurturance. They value time spent with adults and peers to help them feel loved and heard. Children require fulfillment of their needs to reach their full potential.
