Let Children Think Outside the Box!

Teachers should provide opportunities to encourage interaction while nurturing the interests and abilities of their students (McClure et al., 2017). Children need inspiration and enough time to be original and use their imagination. Setting exploratory activities around the room with unrestricted art mediums permits children to be innovative and create original designs and inventions. Recyclables are one resource children love using to create individual artwork. I give children colored tape, scissors, hole punchers, ribbon, empty egg cartons, empty paper towel rolls, and other accessories, then watch them go! I am amazed to see children’s love for recycled materials and how they enjoy spending extensive time creating unique projects.
